V8 Enhancements Print

Griffith owner Clive Ford opened his new website selling Enhancements for your Griffith.

Clive has produced a number of products after making some Heat shields that sit over the manifolds last year and after the response he received from other owners there there is a market for them. Clive tells us more.

I have been in engineering all my working life after serving a fabrication and welding apprenticeship on leaving school, and for the last 5 years have been a partner in our own fabrication and welding business here on the Isle of Wight, a venture my friend and I jumped into after both being laid off by a previous employer/

Since owning my Griffith I have been drawn to the thing like a magnet, usual tvr owners lifestyle really, home from work, quick Hello to the Mrs, and out to do something to the TVR, whether its fitting a new cam or polishing the living daylights out of it!

Last winter I decided to drastically tidy up the engine bay, to make it look as nice on the inside as it does on the outside, so after fitting the pretty silicon hoses, magnecour ht leads, Leven oil cap ect, it still looked a bit dowdy, so took some bits to work, and set about buffing up the aluminium swirl pot and coolant expansion tank, then started looking at ways that  the heat from the exhaust manifolds affect different parts that ran very close to them, and eventually came up with  some heat shields that fit over the manifolds to protect the fan belt and water temperature sensor on the swirl pot.

And found that a nice polished mirror finish to the stainless steel shields adds that bit of bling  to the engine bay, as well as doing the job its designed for.

After a few friends saw some pictures of the car that were posted via Pistonheads, people soon started asking “where did you get those from”.

So after selling a few sets via e-bay, decided that there was an interest and possibly a market for stuff like this, that perhaps my ideas were`nt so daft after all, from then on I have read many threads on the Chimaera and Griffith forums, finding out from other owners what may be a benefit to the cars, that they cannot buy at the moment., then scribbling ideas onto paper trying to find a simple solution.

I always aim to keep something as simple as possible, with the view that anyone who would want to purchase a product can simply fit it themselves without having to pay someone at their local garage to do it for them, as in the end it will cost a lot less money, and if its simple, quick and easy to fit, then you are more likely to be pleased with it if your not struggling for ages only to find you`ve got the darned thing on the wrong way around!

I have now decided to advertise my products on a website  www.v8enhancements.co.uk  and hope to get a good response.

I am very much open to fellow enthusiasts  offering ideas,  things that people may feel can be an improvement on the existing parts, it’s the people who own these cars who know what is good and what is`nt, and  perhaps some of these ideas can be made  into quality affordable  products.

The Griffith Pages team wish Clive all the best with The Business and Thanks Him for Sponsoring The Griffith Pages.
