The targa cover and rear roof section can both be sourced pre-stiched and shaped from Autohoodsor call 0208 391 5324. Prices are on their website.Unfortunatly they only suppply the whole hood as from Dec 2004
The following info was kindly given to me by Jamie who got it from fellow PHer 'Rolfe'. Click on thumbnails for larger images:
Glue is Dunlop 1386 and has to be sourced from an upholsterer as it cannot be posted as it is a solvent. It is all perfectly logical. If you have got a camera take lots of pictures. Its amazing how the little details get forgotten. Pick a nice warm day. Things dry and stretch well.
Peel off old roof. I found that pincers helped me grip the material. Strip off all the old glue. I used panel wipe. Dont be tempted to rush this part or you will get lumps on the roof.
Take a long time to position the material and practice making sure it is even both sides. I used clips on one side so I could make sure I had got it exactly in the middle. The material is marked in the middle but finding the centre of a TVR mould was just about impossible. Practice doing it because the glue takes no prisoners!
Once you are confident leave the clamps on one side to keep the materials position and glue the other half of the material. Pull the material onto the roof ensuring it is in the correct position. Once happy use a roller to firmly press it down.
Remove the clamps and glue the other half and repeat the process. Make sure the material does not move on the side you have just "Roof%20retrim/Glue%20one%20side.JPG" width="400" height="250" border="0">
Remove the clamps and glue the other half and repeat the process. Make sure the material does not move on the side you have just completed.
From this point on its just a case of trimming it up. I used a bolster chiesel to make a nice tight seam on the insets.
There you go - Job done!!
