Griffiths at Vmax Print
Last weekend saw the VMAX  XIII,  what has become a higly recognised event taking place this time at Bruntingthorpe in Leicestershire. The idea is to see how fast you can get driving down a 2 mile stretch of runway.
Vmax Griffiths

It was a poor show from TVR as only 4 where at the event and i was hoping some of the newer models might be on show. From the feedback we recieved from owners of other marques a think we done ourselves proud in performance and noise . There were  3 Griffith 500's and Dave Oggs Chimeara 4 Ltr.

We arrived at the Airfield at around 0930 and were talked throughwhat was expected of us safety was by Craig the organiser of Vmax.  We all the drove around the course which consisted of a short straight followed by a long hairpin and then onto the two mile straight and down to where we stopped to see where the speed trap was set up and where we would be flying through hopefully at Vmax

The Three Griffiths that where there where my 500, Gary Richardsons georgous Blue 500 and Mark and Lou's fantatstic Red Glow Pearl 500.

The first run I took it more than steady and with my roof down my braking was well out with a timed speed of, now no laughing ......107mph followed by a  145mph two up. I then managed to get 157mph on a number of occasions two up and made a final run with just me in and managed a 158mph. I was hoping to hit the 160mph mark but just couldnt get out the corner quick enough and on the gas. Something I have learnt for next time.

Gary, Marc and Lou where getting better times and Marc had his roof up and was hitting just over 150mph. I think 151mph was his best which they where both very disappointed with as he had seen alot more on his guage before which was very accuarate with the speed trap times he was getting. He later found it he had a blocked cat. Gary was posting good speeds aswell even though he wasnt pushing as his pride and joy is up for sale and didnt want to hit the limiter as he wants to pass it on in Good condition of which it is. His best speed was 153mph.

In between our trials we managed to Blag rides with owners of other marques while also given them some fun in our pride and joys. The two highlighst of my day where going in two yellow Porsches. One getting a speed of 197mph, this was drhildr's 996RUF RGT2 boy did this car shift. The other was Martin 96  Porsche 993TT RS Tuning which I think we got  191mph out of. There top speeds for the day where 198mph and 193mph. I also Enjoyed a complete 360 in Dave's Chimeara who was very frustrated at only getting 145mph and is now hankering after a supercharger, or maybe a 500. Cheers Dave
