The TVR Griffith was revealed in prototype form at the 1990 Motor Show. When the car was eventually released for sale to the public in 1991, two engine sizes were available - the 4.0 litre and 4.3 litre . Both cars were based on the Rover V8 unit used by TVR in the Griffith (and Chimaera) until production ended in 2001.
